Cool! Great work! Soulcatcher rocks! Love The Black Company. It is definitely one of the most neglected fantasy series out there, which is a shame because it was particularly influential to Erikson's Malazan book of the fallen series, and Abercrombrie's First of the Law series, and probably others, as well.
Thank you very much for looking. I kind of have this thing with the Black Company where I feel like me trying to paint a Croaker or Lady or Murgen or whoever would kind of be like a kindergartener undertaking to reproduce the ceiling of the sistine chapel in fingerpaint - if you catch my drift. I've loved the Black Company for so long that I think someday, maybe, I might try to tackle it... but Soulcatcher is my favorite and as my art has improved I kind of feel like I owe it to her to repaint her before I try my hand anyone else.
It's always great to meet another fan, the series is so under-appreciated. Thanks for stopping by to comment.
Wonderful pic of her ! Oh please, can you draw the others Taken ? At least, just the Limper (my favourite after Soulcatcher, he's so hard to kill XD). Please ! (Yes, I know, I'm really a fanatic of the black company series XD)
I very much appreciate you looking. The Black Company is so neglected artistically that it's sad, I totally agree. Soulcatcher grabbed me when I first read the book at like, I dunno, 13, and I've never gotten her out of my head. I think I am in love, despite how awesomely disturbed she is.
Amazing piece! What I really love here is the tone you managed to convey with the style, background and shading. This picture IS Soulcatcher! (or at least how she is in my head, haha). *spoilers for others* I was pretty depressed when they killed her off at the beginning, little did I know that they'd be bringing just about everyone back...repeatedly! If you do portraits of more of the ten who were taken you'll be my best friend for life.
